As a result of conflict with the San or Bushmen people, it was only from around 1830 that farmers stayed on a more permanent basis. By around 1850 the farm Eenzaamheid was purchased for the development of a town. Within a short space of time, a thriving town was developed. During the first half of 1901 the town saw some Boer War action. Some of the main buildings as well as prominent farm dwellings have been burnt down during this time. Today the town is merely a small dot on the map, maybe better known to hunters.
